Bret wanted to add a subtitle to this song; "Woodacre (Cry of the Treehugger)." We thought it best to stick with the original, citing concerns that it would otherwise paint us to be either pro- or anti-treehugger, of which we are neither. Over The Falls, as a collective, is fairly ambivalent towards arborphiles. We mean, we all love nature: Bret and Chris are snowboarding and camping freaks; Tim's a hiking, biking, disc-golfing machine; and Ryan, well... Ryan just bought "Nature 2: Death from Above" on the Playstation Store, so that counts, right? We're all into conservation and what-not, it's just, being from San Francisco, we know all too well the lament of the hippie defeated by forces of industrialization and tract housing. Coincidentally, we don't know if any of this applies to the Marin County town of Woodacre: we just drive through it on the way to the beach.
lyrics
Poisonous youth,
Faithful enclave.
Stand up to the tyranny,
Remark on the brave.
Landmark of the Brave
Pining for Eldorado don't mean nothin' in a senator's jest.
White orbs of Carolina caught in the lens doth surely protest.
Beacon of Truth,
Twisted away.
Leaves of compassion,
Words of the Day.
Landmark of the Brave
So much for the lofty aspirations of evolution.
White orbs of Bolinas fear no backlash, or retribution
You wonder if you supposed to take it and
You wonder if you supposed to make it and
You wonder if you supposed to fake it or
Retreat and Roll Over.
You wonder how you're gonna fake it and
You wonder how you're gonna make it and
You wonder how you're gonna take it, a
Defeat in Woodacre
Rally all the forces
Break 'em like the horses
'Til they know to stay.
Rally all the forces
Break 'em like the horses
Keep the wolf at bay
Pining for Eldorado don't mean nothin' when you retreat and roll over
White orbs of Carolina caught in the lens of a defeat in Woodacre
Rally all the forces
Break 'em like the horses
'Til they know to stay.
Rally all the forces
Break 'em like the horses
Keep the wolf at bay
