"Ahh, what album is complete without a heartbreaking lament?"
"Wait, I thought this song is about beer"
"Well, kinda. But it's about heartbreak, first and foremost."
"Ohhh, so it's about heartbreak, and then beer!"
"*sigh* Yes, Tim... heartbreak, then beer. Well done."
In case you were wondering, it's the 2 guitars on the right that are on this song; a Gibson ES-335 and an old Arianna acoustic (the same guitars were also used on The Whetherman). The gray 7-string ESP LTD was used on EDK & District 36, and the Les Paul classic was used everywhere else. God bless that Les Paul... the headstock has been broken twice and it's still going strong. A good story awaits you if you ask Bret how that guitar was broken; just make sure you buy him a beer or he's liable to get quite animated about it.
lyrics
A life worth livin' is all I need,
And all I've given is all I receive
So it goes
And on I go...
The world you've taken, the valleys, the peaks
Alone, forsaken, trampled with the seeds.
But I'll stand and I'll listen, to the echoes of the leaves.
And fire, Oh, The fire will take me to the dream.
So it goes,
And on I go,
To hear the whine of the one left behind,
And I know, I know, I know
I burst into beers when I think of you,
I drown in my tears while I hum these blues,
It don't bother you, I don't wonder why,
I burst into beers and deny
This life worth livin' is just what I need,
And all I've given is just about what I receive.
That lump in my throat, cast off like a stone.
Yeah, you sure got my goat, now throw me a bone.
So it goes,
And on I go,
To hear the whine of the one left behind,
And I know, I know, I know
I burst into beers when I think of you,
I drown in my tears while I hum these blues,
It don't bother you, I don't wonder why,
I burst into beers and deny
I burst into beers when I think of you,
I drown in my tears while I hum these blues,
It don't bother you, I don't wonder why,
I burst into beers and deny
